Gone to Oregon

Picture this – a bunch of us friends, staying in this cool Airbnb right by the river, with the stunning Cascade Mountains in the background. It was like a dream come true!

So, the reason we picked Bend is because our bride-to-be, Laura, wanted an outdoorsy kind of celebration, and let me tell you, this place is an adventurer’s paradise. We spent four awesome days in early July exploring the best of Bend. We got there a bit early, but the cleaners were nice enough to let us in before check-in time. Once everyone arrived, we set up and decorated the place to make it all cozy and festive.

The maid of honor went all out with food, drinks, and even had customized temporary tattoos made with the groom’s face on them! We also had our own custom bags with our names on them, filled with necessary supplies for the weekend.

Laura’s main wish for the trip was to have a good time, and we were totally on board with that. We had plenty of champagne and seltzers in the fridge, but we also wanted to explore the local drinking scene.

However, as soon as we settled in, we couldn’t wait to dive into the fun. So, guess where we went? Straight to the river! Floating on the Deschutes River was hands down one of the most epic and enjoyable experiences we had in Bend. We grabbed our sunscreen, hats, and a whole lot of enthusiasm, ready to embark on our floating adventure. Trust me, it was quite the sight to see – a group of excited party people armed with tubes, drinks, and laughter, all set for an unforgettable weekend.

The water was cool and refreshing, a welcome relief from the summer heat. We had the time of our lives as we lazily floated, taking in the beautiful scenery around us. Oh, and did I mention there were ten of us in the group? It was a blast, but it could get a bit tricky trying to do everything together. But that’s okay – we made it work and had so much fun.

We ended the evening with a PowerPoint presentation night. We gathered around the laptop, ready to share our Laura-related presentations. Some of us went for heartfelt and sentimental topics, pouring our hearts out about our friendship with Laura and our wishes for her wedding. There were tears, hugs, and group “awws” as we reminisced about the good times we had shared.

HOWEVER, it wasn’t all sappy and sentimental. Some presentations took a wild and wacky turn. We had everything from ridiculous stories and embarrassing moments to inside jokes that only the die-hard Laura fans would understand. The room was filled with laughter, as each presenter brought their unique flair to the stage.

Now, let’s talk about the real star of the night – Morph. Yes, you heard it right, Morph. The pink blob of space goo that has the ability to morph into anything he wants and a major character in critically acclaimed 2001 film, Treasure Planet. It was hilarious how this little guy stole the show and became a symbol of our unforgettable adventure.

The next day, the weather was still hot, but it didn’t stop us from going back out to the river to have a great time. Some of us got a little sunburned, but that’s just part of the adventure, right? Some of us just sat by the riverside, dipping our feet in, while others went all out. We were laughing, taking tons of pictures, and soaking in the moment.

The best part was being surrounded by nature – the lush greenery, the sound of birds chirping, and the occasional splash of water made the whole experience so serene and relaxing. It felt like we were in our little paradise, away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There’s something magical about being on the river with your closest friends, sharing in the joy of each other’s company, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We were passed by other floaters on their own journey down the river, waving and exchanging friendly hellos. It felt like we were all part of this unique river community, sharing the love for the outdoors and the blissful experience of floating on the Deschutes.

As the afternoon sun started to dip lower in the sky, we decided to wrap up our floating escapade and head back to our Airbnb. The whole experience left us feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to head out for a evening out on the town.

We made sure to explore Bend as much as we could, starting our night at this cool Belgian brewery called Monkless, and guess what? It was a hit for me, because I’m half Belgian! I felt right at home sipping on those beers. Afterwords, we made our way around town and even did some shopping at REI and Lush.

Then eventually made our way to this tiki bar, where the servers weren’t all super nice, but one of them made up for it by treating us to free “shark attack” shots. I even tried a $50 drink called “monkey brains” – it was pure tequila, I think!

But you know what made this trip the absolute best? The unforgettable moments we shared as friends. We laughed till our stomachs hurt, told stories, and just cherished being together. There’s nothing quite like celebrating friendship, you know?

Anyway, that’s a quick recap of our bachelorette getaway. Bend is officially on my list of favorite places now! Wish you could’ve been there, but I hope this gave you a taste of the amazing time we had.

TLDR; I was in Bend, OR for a bachelorette.

Thanks for reading & drink more water
