The Journey and How-To video series were developed as digital instruction content for GoDaddy, a $350M web hosting company. Reporting to the Customer Education Lead, I spearheaded video content development, producing and directing 350 episodes for the Marketing/Brand YouTube Channel while managing the overall digital education strategy.
The brand needed to improve organic search traffic, diversify its viewership demographic, and reduce high customer support costs. Additionally, there was a need to increase customer engagement and build a definitive YouTube strategy that aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
Introduce “always-on” video guidance that not only solves customers’ immediate technical problems but also builds their confidence through practical advice and a supportive tone, while leading a rigorous SEO and UTM campaign effort to create keyword-winning content.
Saved in support costs by lowering the call center contact rate by 12%.
Annual revenue boosted through targeted SEO and UTM campaigns.
Jumped in the average CTR from 3.6% by refining titles and hooks.
Helpfulness rating for the content provided in the series.
Research pointed to a distinct user problem: everyday entrepreneurs felt isolated and overwhelmed by the technical mechanics of building a business.
The Core Question: How might we provide always-on guidance that directly solves technical pain points while actively building user confidence?
The Goal: Scale production to 120 video assets annually to reach 100k+ subscribers, reduce support costs, and establish a definitive, strategic YouTube roadmap aligned with company goals.
help our everyday entrepreneur easily find and confidently apply the technical solutions they need without having to call a support center?
We knew we couldn’t just list technical steps; we needed to change how we spoke to our audience.
The “Guide” Persona: I authored scripts for The Journey and How-To videos, leaning into a conversational, supportive tone that acknowledged the user’s struggle right from the hook
To guide the production, I utilized Google Keyword Planner, Google Analytics, internal Tableau reports, and YouTube analytics.
25% of all traffic, backed by over 390 ranked search tags.
mobile and desktop, showing strong mobile engagement (3%) and high watch time on computers (31%).
split (56% Male / 44% Female) compared to the broader channel average.
I regularly interpreted YouTube analytics and delivered executive reports to senior leadership, allowing us to pivot dynamically.
Based on key performance learnings, we updated top-performing legacy videos to boost search rankings, incorporated publication years and cross-links in video descriptions, and experimented with new whiteboard and graphic execution styles.
Our strategic title and hook refinements propelled the average CTR to 7.9%, establishing a new benchmark for the channel.
We successfully launched and scaled a robust library of over 350 episodes covering everything from naming a business to managing social media. The series proved that educational content could be both mathematically optimized for search and deeply human in its delivery.
Beyond the metrics and the scripts, there was a heartbeat to this project that no spreadsheet could ever fully capture. The true magic happened once a month when we gathered in our Seattle studio. Working with this crew taught me that the best work happens when you are surrounded by people who are as dedicated as they are talented.
Data informs your strategy, but empathy drives your engagement. Furthermore, listening to your audience in real-time and leaning on a collaborative team environment is far more powerful than sticking to a rigid production schedule.
The framework established in The Journey, merging meticulous SEO data with empathy-led storytelling, serves as a blueprint for scaling digital education and brand loyalty across future product and content ecosystems.
